SINGAPORE, 21 November 2019– Canon is excited to announce the launch of the all new imagePROGRAF PRO Series printers in South and Southeast Asia Region. These new fully pigment inks large-format printers are the 8-colour PRO-561S (60”), PRO-541S (44”) and 12-colour PRO-561 (60”), PRO-541 (44”), PRO-521(24”).
Building on the success of the previous PRO Series, these new printers feature new innovative fully automated media handling process, enhanced security robustness and an extensive suite of software solutions to ease workflow. The new range of PRO Series will realise high productivity for production signage, fine art and photographers with high quality prints.
“First-of-its-kind” Intelligent Media Handling
With automatic media detection and estimation of remaining roll amount, this will greatly ease operation workflow and free up operators’ physical time spent on print preparation. Together with intelligent automatic media feeding, these new PRO Series printers allow operator to move away from the printer after placing media roll in the machine, removing the need to manually feed the roll or select the media type. After the roll is loaded into the machine, the media is automatically fed while the built-in multi-sensor measures the surface reflection and media thickness to detect the media type. Learning function in-built in the printers is used for judgement of paper type, for media detection in future media loading.
With this fully automated media handling process, operators do not need to touch the media surface while loading the media to print, greatly reducing the risk of fingerprints or dirt from damaging expensive media surfaces and prints. The estimated remaining amount of loaded media roll is calculated automatically and shown on the operation panel, based on the rotation angle and amount of media transported. The need to print a barcode as with Canon’s previous devices and current third-party devices becomes optional. These new models also have the ability to print borderless on all standard and custom widths, which helps to save time and cost for users. With Canon’s intelligent media feeding and reading system, our customers can now spend more time on the creative aspects and less time having to deal with the hassle of feeding rolls into the machine. Core Technologies and Inks
The new PRO Series printers are powered by high-speed image processing engine L-COA PRO processor and single 1.28-inch wide Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) printhead, which is capable of ejecting ink droplet size of minimum 4 picoliter per colour. Signature LUCIA PRO pigment inks are used in this flagship PRO series printers to produce vibrant large format prints for production signage, graphics, fine art and photography. This ensures that outstanding quality prints are produced each and every time with high productivity. The standard, built-in multi-sensor helps enable easy and economical colour calibration for consistent colour reproduction from print to print, as well as from printer to printer. Robust Security
These new large-format printers boast highly advanced security features such as 500GB encrypted Hard Disk Drive, secure disk erasure using random data and coding, making it virtually impossible to recover overwritten data. Secure printing through PIN printing is also made available. Data are transmitted securely from host computers to the new PRO Series printers through secured protocols to help protect and prevent data leakage. Administrators can now have full control over printers from general users, preventing printers’ settings and workflows from being altered and disrupted by users. Extensive Suite of Software Solutions Meeting Different Needs
The new PRO Series also includes a wide variety of creative and workflow software to help increase the productivity and efficiency of large-format printing environments. These software features include Professional Print & Layout, which supports auto nesting and achieves a streamlined workflow for printing photos, providing customers with the ability to create and save custom setting, which is ideal for wedding packages. Direct Print & Share allows production end users to batch print files and create shortcuts for drag and drop printing. With Device Management Console software, production professionals with multiple printers can centralise status and colour management across a variety of devices. They will be able to track usage, print cost, ink consumptions and other details of every print job easily via Accounting Manager, which helps to simplify reporting workloads. Intuitive and User-Friendly Design
The new PRO Series is designed to provide customers with an easy-to-use experience that saves time and boost productivity. With an intuitive, upgraded 4.3 inch touch-screen operation panel, this series provides users with better operability and visibility. For added usability, the three main functions, media switching, feeding and cutting, are conveniently placed as hard buttons on the front of the product’s interface for better media handling and save users the hassle of having to navigate through multiple functions on the operation panel. The printers have all been updated with a transparent clear window to allow end users to easily check on the printing progress and whether the printed images and size are correct.
